As SkinPen® does not use any active ingredients or laser light therapy, it is recommended for all skin types including even the most sensitive of skins. The SkinPen® device is used primarily to help revitalize ageing skin and soften acne scars. SkinPen® is used to treat and improve conditions like acne scarring, fine lines and wrinkles, loose skin, skin texture, pore size, brown spots, stretch marks, and pigment issues. SkinPen® triggers the skin’s natural healing response, resulting in healthy, glowing skin. 

You can see a positive improvement after one treatment, although a series of treatments are recommended for significantly enhanced results. Anywhere from 3-6 is usually the normal amount required, however a consultation will be able to answer this more accurately. A yearly course thereafter may possibly be recommended for maintenance. As a side note, as your collagen gets to work, it can take up to three months after your initial treatments to see final results. 

Although minimally invasive, you can expect to feel a small amount of discomfort. A prickly sensation with a slight warming of the treated areas is felt as the tissue becomes injured. Once the treatment has finished your skin will feel mildly sunburnt and a little tender to touch. SkinPen®  utilises a feature that allows a lot more oscillation per minute than any other device. The great news is, we can reach a satisfactory end in much quicker time. Our clients tolerate SkinPen® treatments extremely well without the need for topical numbing agents.

You will be prescribed gentle skincare products that you will be required to use for the days following treatment to ensure the best outcomes. You must avoid direct sun exposure for 2 weeks following treatment as you will be more sensitive to the UV exposure. Your therapist will give you thorough instructions at your appointment to maximise your skin results.

DOUBLE CLEANSE Skin is double cleansed to remove any oils and residue from the numbing cream. An antiseptic solution will be wiped over the surface to ensure full cleanliness. Your skin therapist will attach your sterile, single-use needle cartridge to the SkinPen® and determine the length of the micro-needle for your procedure. MICRO NEEDLING Once connected, the sterile tip of the SkinPen® needle cartridge is moved across the surface of the skin to perform the needling. Some clients may experience a small amount of discomfort during the procedure alongside a small amount of pinpoint bleeding. PROTECT A thin layer of SkinFuse Lift HG is applied to protect the skin against abrasion and friction of the SkinPen®. The SkinPen®  is then worked over taught skin in small areas at a time. The treatment is entirely comfortable with numbing cream, but some areas may more sensitive than others. RESULTS Directly after your SkinPen® treatment, radiant skin is apparent as the deeper skin continues its healing process delivering more youthful and healthy-looking skin. Effects may last for 24-48 hours and there may be pinpoint bleeding and/or bruising.
